Men in 40s are happier in their sexual lives than those in 20s, says study

A new study has found that couples in 40s are happier in their sexual lives than those in 20s or 30s, as their financial security wipes out the household stresses that often kill the libido.

According to the survey by Relationships Australia, love, lust and passion are not enough for sexual satisfaction; rather what plays crucial role in spicing up sexual life is financial security.

“Between 40-49 you have children who are becoming increasingly independent, you’ve probably returned to the workforce, you probably have a fairly solid career behind you so your income is going to be in a higher bracket,” the Age quoted Relationships Australia’s Samantha Aldridge as saying.

“‘There are a lot of things that contribute to that age group feeling quite satisfied with sexual activity because they don’t have some of those other finance-related, career-related and child-related pressures on their relationship,” she stated.

In the survey, among 1200 people, less than half of the respondents (44 per cent) with a household income under 60,000 dollars a year said they were sexually active, compared to 81 per cent with a household income of more than 80,000 dollars a year.

“Financial stress has a huge impact on relationship satisfaction and on intimacy and, now we know also, sexual activity,” stated Aldridge.

Only 65 percent of respondents aged 25-34 felt that they were happy with their sexual activity, compared to 74 per cent of 40-49 year-olds.

Aldridge revealed that people in their late 20s and early 30s are not satisfied with their sexual life as they are generally under a lot of pressure, such as building their career.
