Big B slams UP govt for cancelling `Aarakshan` event

Dealing with tribulations at the hands of the state government has become the order of the day. A common man faces it at all levels but heads turn when the same treatment is meted out to Bollywood supremo Amitabh Bachchan.
The legend who hails from UP is miffed by the rulers of the state. Ironic it is, but the man is "disappointed" after a promotional event of `Aarakshan` in Lucknow was cancelled by the local government over law and order problem.

The 68-year-old mega star, who originally hails from Uttar Pradesh, was to interact with the students in Lucknow today along with the cast of Prakash Jha`s movie but the government withdrew permission yesterday, citing the protests by some political parties on the subject of the movie, which deals with reservation.

"And now the bad news... our Lucknow trip cancelled because the UP administration withdraws all permission to conduct promo. The administration does not allow us to enter the city...unofficial reports by police say they have instructions to arrest us if we do," Bachchan tweeted.

Big B, who plays a college principal in the soon-to-release movie, is bemused that a promotional event can create law and order problem.

"Feel disappointed that we are not allowed to promote film in UP Lucknow... admin feels will excite and cause law and order problem. They say it is a sensitive subject and do not want us to enter the city even...without even seeing the film, duly Censored ?? Strange (sic)," he said.

"But we must follow the law of the land... and the principles that our Constitution is based on... will go straight to Delhi now !!," he added.

Well, it’s really unfortunate for UP state government to think little of someone like Amitabh Bachchan. No wonder the actor contravened and deployed his services to promote illustrious Gujarat rather than his home state UP!
